I ( Matt ) Normally Go Angling Either Monday Or Tuesday But Due To Work Commitments Wednesday Was The Only Day / Afternoon Available.

Joining Me On This Session Was My Old Mucker And Good Friend ( Nick Rudge )

Right Then On To This Weeks Short Session, We Both Arrived At The Lake Around 2.30 pm And On Arrival We Were Both Greeted By The Presence Of Three Other Anglers, The Swim Myself And ( Marc ) Have Done A Lot Of Our Angling In This Year Was All Ready Taken So Off We Went In Search Of A Swim And To Pick The Brains Regards Info From The Other Anglers Who Had All Been Present Since First Light.

I Must Add In My Opinion You Should Never Have In Mind An Idea Of Were You Intend To Fish On Route To The Lake, A Good Map / Walk Round Your Chosen Venue Is Essential  Sometimes Two Or Even Three Times? Location Is Very Important If You Don't Find Them? You Can't Catch Them! The Swim Mentioned Previously Is One I Always Have A Look In First, Reasons Being I Have Done Very Well In It This Year.

After Speaking To The Lad Who Was In That Swim This Week He Told Me It Had Been A Struggle For Him And He Had Yet To Bank A Fish So Possibly The Fish Were Holding Up In A Different Area? So I Always Take The Time To Have A Good Look Around As I Say Location Is Very Important!

SWIM CHOICE

After A Good Look Around And Speaking To The Other Anglers They Told Me Action Had Been To A Minimum, A Few Carp Had Been Caught But Not Many, I Headed To A Swim Right In The Central Area Of The Lake And One Of The Main Reasons For This Was The Wind, It Was Hacking From Right To Left And It Looked Well Carpy!

It Was Impossible To Spot Any Tell Tale Signs Such As Fizzing And Bubbling Due To The Chop On The Water, Neither Did I See Any Signs Of Carp IE Rolling, Crashing, Head And Shouldering Etc, But The More I Kept On Looking At The Swim The More It Just Looked Right So I Went With My Gut Feeling And Fetched The Gear And Began To Set Up.

BAIT AND THE RIG

If You Have Read Any Of My Blogs On The Old Format ( Tumblr ) Or Watched Any Of My Video Blogs This Year? You'll Know By Now That I Have Been Using A New Bait This Year Called ( CM1 )

It's First Outing Was Back In February, I've Used It On Three Different Venues In The UK And Recently In France, My Rewards Have Been Excellent, Catching A Decent Amount Of 20's In The UK On It Some Of Them Big, To Mid 40's Over In France.

I'll Continue To Use It Up Until The End Of October Then I'll Be Turning My Attentions To My Winter Bait From Then On.

I've Played Around With Two Different Base Mix's With This Bait But The Baits Ingredient Content Remains The Same, I'm Using It Again This Evening Presenting The Bait ( Snowman Style ) Both Bottom Bait And Pop Up Are ( CM1 )

Moving On To The Rig And The Ever Reliable ( Snowman Rig ) I'm Not Going To Re Invent The Wheel Here It's Simplicity iN Itself, Nothing Complicated And It Catches Carp.

SNOWMAN RIG

By 3.30 / 3.45 PM ? All Three Rods Were Spotted In A Line At Short Range, Roughly 5 Rod Lengths From The Bank, Each Snowman Was Presenting A Different Coloured Pop Up Tipper ( Fluro Pink, Lush Pink And White ).

Each Rig Was Complemented With A Small PVA Mesh Bag Full Of Chopped Boilie And I Also Peppered Each Spot With A Further Helping Of ( CM1 ) Bottom Baits. Back Leaded And A Very Slack Line I Was Happy With My Presentation And Spots Then Sat Back Water Watching And Drinking Coffee.

The Wind Was Still Blowing To My Left Not A Very Warm Wind More Of A Mild One And It Still Looked Very Carpy And I Didn't Have To Wait Long For Some Action, 20 Mins In And The Middle Rod Was Away Banking The First Of The Session.

CAPTURE NUMBER ONE

Picture
That's A Great Start To Any Session I Love This Strain Of Common Carp.

Things Went Very Quiet After Returning This Capture As I Re Spotted My Right Hand Rod And Got Back Into Position To Watch The Water, I Made Up Three More PVA Bags Of Chops Ready To Re Spot All 3 Rods Again Around 6.00 PM And What Happened After Doing That Can Only Happen In Carp Fishing.

After Sorting Out The Final Rod After Re Spotting And Topping Up The Spots With More Free Offerings All Hell Let Loose, I Banked A Small Common This Time On The Right Hand Rod And After Un Hooking My Prize And Leaving It In My Landing Net Whilst I Got The Rod Back Out My Left Hander Went, Straight Away It Felt Like A Better Fish And I Was Not Wrong, A Real Plodder After A Very Spirited Fight I Landed Yet Another Common Not Forgetting I Had Already Got One In The Net.

The Scales Nestled On 27lb 5oz RESULT!!!

This Fish Was In Great Condition And I Feel Very Lucky To Have Caught It.
