It's the bank holiday weekend and after managing to get out last weekend for a few hours I'm pleased to say myself ( Matt ) and ( Marc ) have managed to do the same this Sunday

It's normally late afternoon when we depart for the lake but this Sunday we managed to leave a tad earlier giving us both an extra hour and a half's angling, We arrived at the waters edge Just after 2.00 pm and found a few anglers already present but for a bank holiday weekend In our opinion It wasn't that busy

Our normal swims were already occupied so we went for a walk around the venue chatting to the anglers who were already present to see If anything had been caught?, After a few conversations we decided to split up finding Two swims to angle from which were not that far apart

Saturday morning I'd been quite busy again like I was the previous Saturday rolling more pop ups, This weekend It was a stock replenishment of my Fresh Orange 16mm pop ups In White

Along with a pot of the above I'd also taken along with me on this session my CM1 16mm pop ups and the Key pastel range

As normal I'm using Three rods, Two presenting Snowman presentations and One rod a hinged stiff rig, On my Snowman rigs I'm using my CM2 bottom baits and 12mm Fresh Orange pop ups the other rod will be presenting Key / Cultured hookbaits and Citruz pop ups

Complementing the Key / Cultured hookbaits I'm also using a small stick peppered In the liquid bait soak for maximum attraction

Throughout the session I'd be keeping up to date with ( Marc's ) progress via text message and within minutes of getting the rods out ( Marc ) had been In touch to say he'd bagged one, A small Mirror kicked off his session

I could see the spots which ( Marc ) was placing his baits to from my swim, The activity In his swim was Immense to say the least, ( Marc ) text back again shortly after saying he had Just returned another he also mentioned that there was plenty of fly and Insects In his swim Just above the surface

It appears that a new fly hatch had hatched and the Carp were gathered In front of ( Marc ) In great numbers and they were  going nuts, Rolling, Crashing, Head and shouldering obviously eating the fly's?

( Marc ) placing his baits and free offerings Inbetween them and was picking the Carp up Ten a penny by tea time ( Marc ) was close to nearly Ten captures mostly upper doubles a few scraping Twenty pound

Me ( Matt ) I sat drinking coffee and water watching a prime example of how Important location has to be If your not on them? You can't catch them!

I reeled In for a few minutes after receiving yet another text from ( Marc ) saying he'd Just slipped the net under what went onto be the biggest of the session, So I made my way around to his swim to do some photography

Some session this was turning out to be for ( Marc ), On my return back to my swim I had a re think and decided to change my tactics, The decision was made to switch Two rods onto hinged stiff rigs which would be presenting Key pastel pop up's, Both rods would get a light peppering of Key bottom baits and I placed both baits at slightly further range

With In minutes One of the re spotted rods was away what happened next can only be put down to bad luck, As I was playing the fish a duck In mid flight crashed straight Into my mainline and pulled out the hook
'' G U T T E D '' how do you account for that?

Their was no time for me to dwell on the situation as time was getting on a fresh bait on and It was back In the pond. I had Just got that rod sorted when my left hand rod was away this one was presenting a CM2 snowman rig I must confess whilst playing this fish I was looking constantly for any flying wild foul I was not going to lose this One.

You couldn't wright the script I was Just about to slip the net under my prize when the rod which had experienced the Duck Incident was away again bad luck struck once again I managed to land the fish at the first attempt I put down One rod and picked up the other but before I could put some tension on the fish It took me through a snag and cut me off  '' D O U B L E - T R O U B L E ''

Their are certain things which are Just beyond your control and this evening I experienced Two of them

After all that I did manage to get a Carp In the net which saved the blank a bit of an old warrior but welcomed all the same

I'm delighted to say we ended on a high note

I'm also pleased for ( Marc ) he got on them and reaped the rewards!
