SHORT SESSION SUNDAY ( 17. 8. 2014 )

8/18/2014

After a morning at work myself ( Matt ) and good friend ( Marc ) are heading outdoors again and bankside for another short session, The day began with heavy rain and the air temperature was a lot cooler than It has been In recent weeks

By the time we'd arrived at the venue the grey clouds had moved on and a blue sky complimented by fluffy white clouds had taken It's place, The wind was still howling though and It was blowing from the bottom end of the lake strongly Into a corner at the top of the lake

If you read last weeks blog? I mentioned we both opted to angle Into the teeth of a strong wind last week and towards the end of the session we both spotted numbers of carp showing on the back of It, With conditions almost the same this week we changed our approach and set up On the back of It

Enjoying some success on the new bait from Angling Direct ( Tangee Terror ) last week and getting through a large amount of It, I stocked up with some more to continue Introducing It this week

TANGEE TERROR

Preparation Is the key for any modern day carp angler and In my free time fresh rigs are tied so I always have plenty In stock, With minimum angling time available I spend more time angling when on the bank and not wasting time sorting out terminal tackle and rigs, Within thirty minutes after arriving I'm angling

RODS OUT

Picture
On with the session I did not have to wait long this week to get my first taste of action twenty / thirty minutes? and my left hand rod melted off, That fast It pulled the rod from the butt grip a spirited battle which sadly came off at the net by the looks of what I saw It was a common of perhaps mid double proportions?

Oh well that's fishing and I put the rod back out and on the spot, ( Marc ) was next to have his heart racing and I'm pleased to say this one found the net, Not a big fish but condition wise It was mint

MINTER FOR MARC

Picture
After weighing ( Marc's ) capture we found out It was Just over twenty pounds good angling mate!

An hour or so passed and things had been quiet, After re spotting all three rods and Introducing some more free offerings the signs of some more action looked very good Indeed, Liners and fizzing which we spotted In the brief spells when the wind died down

Finally something happened and It was ( Matt's ) right hander again which sprung Into life, Now I am going to tell you something now and I'll leave you to make your own mind up whether to believe me or not? I played this fish for over twenty minutes, This carp hung on every step of the way and gave me a merry old dance I can tell you, At times I thought this could be a really big fish as It hugged the bottom, When It did hit the surface and took those classic gulps of air myself and ( Marc ) were both surprised to see the size of It, It's not one either of us recall seeing before either and It was very welcome all the same

THE ONE THAT HUNG ON

As I was playing this capture I could see plenty of activity over the spots still and I really fancied my chances of bagging one more before our departure, Just before last knockings you guessed It I was away again and this time It was the middle rod, The ( Tangee Terror ) had done me yet another bite and this one for looks was without doubt the pick of the bunch
