SHORT  SESSION  MONDAY (31.  8.  2015)

It's a bank holiday weekend and a wet One at that, For a change we decided to venture out for our short session this week on the Monday

Arriving Just after 3.00 pm the heavy rain eased off enough to set up comfortably fishing my normal spots using the boilie approach, I've been using the stiff hinge rig for most of this year on my third rod enjoying some success but this week the decision was made to try a totally different presentation '' The Multi Rig ''

Not a new presentation by any means and a lot of anglers tend to have their own way of using It, The version pictured below Is as simple and effective I feel confident to use

Constructed from Nash tackles combi link coated braid and complemented with a size 7 Nash fang X hook stripping back a small section to pinch on a shot and then coat In tungsten putting, Rather a large amount which I call over shotting, To finish off the rig I then tie on a Nash helicopter swivel using a figure of Eight loop not allowing movement In the rig Is essential IMO

You may notice on this particular Multi Rig presentation I'm using a kicker which Is produced with shrink tubing, This Is personal choice I know people who have used this rig to great success without using It also

Finally you may of also noticed I have mixed up the colours regards the anti tangle tubing, Tail rubber and lead clip, This Is something I do on a regular basis after watching the Korda underwater series a few years ago I think It was Tom Dove? who said he also uses this combination In his angling on heavy silty and mucky bottoms on clear or heavily weedy bottoms his approach changes more to one colour

Rods out and the rain begins to fall again so I settled myself comfortably under the brolly, The Multi Rig had only been In the water a matter of minutes when a some what strange take was experienced, Using a semi slack drop on the bobbin Two bleeps were registered and then the bobbin pulled up tight

I was on the rod In a flash and soon after was playing a fish, After a short spirited battle the first Carp of the session was In the net

Awesome hook hold you can Just about make out the combi link ? Safe to say this little chappy was nailed!

With such a good start confidence was high and I thought I was In for a busy evening, How wrong was I the next Four hours went along with out as such as a bleep, I experienced plenty of fizzing over One spot In particular re casting and topping up the spot with a few free offerings did little to change the situation

It was not until Thirty minutes of the session remaining when I decided to change my Key bottom bait to a Key cultured hookbait, Complemented with a Key stick mix I went for It and waited In hope the spot I'd been experiencing all the fizzing on would come up trumps and the high attract concentrated Key package would do me a final bite?

My luck was In tonight my change of bait had done It and the rod simply screamed off, As soon as I lent Into this fish I could clearly see It was a better fish, The fight was tremendous It took me every where and scrapped every Inch of the way before I got It's head up and It took that classic gulp of air then fell Into the net

On close Inspection It was clear to see this was a cracking fish very clean and fin perfect, I popped It on the scales which displayed a weight of 20lb 4oz's delighted and a great way to end the session

                                       NICE  RESULT
