At Last It's That Time Of The Year Again, And Myself ( Matt ) And Good Friend ( Marc ) Are Kicking Off Another Campaign Of Short Session Angling

Being Honest Their Is Not A Great Deal To Talk About In This Session

Our Thoughts At The Beginning Of The Session Were Catching Today Would Be An Added Bonus, Just Being Back Down On Our Chosen Venue Would Be Enough To Fuel Our Passion For Carp Fishing

On Arrival Which Was Just Before 4.00pm We Found Two Other Anglers Present Who Had Been Their All Day, The Swim Which Is Quite Large, Almost A Double Swim Which Myself And ( Marc ) Had Spent A Lot Of Time In Last Year Was Available And It Looked Just As Good As It Did Last Year, So With Out Hesitation We Both Set Up And Kicked Off Our ( 2014 ) Campaign

Conditions Were Decent For Early Spring And For Most Of The Day It Had Been Very Sunny And Warm, But Shortly After We Had Sorted Out Our Rods, The Blue Sky's Turned To Grey And Rain Arrived, Heavy At Times.

Normal Tactics Of Snowman Presentations Complemented With Small Bags Of Chopped Boilie Were Cast Out To Spots We Had Both Experienced Some Good Success From Last Year

By 4.30pm Everything Was Sorted And We Were Angling, Early Signs Looked Good And In The Short Spells When The Heavy Rain Eased Off, We Spotted Numerous Carp All Over The Lake Just Under The Surface, They Were Moving Which Filled Us Both With Confidence The Resident Carp Were Out Of Their Winter Slumber

BAIT

A Couple Of New Additions Have Been Added To Our Range Of Baits This Year In The Form Of A New Bottom Bait And Pop Up

BOTTOM BAIT

Coconut Creme, Early Spring Was The Thinking Behind This Creation, Our CM1 Boilies Which Is An Out And Out Fishmeal Bait Worked Wonders Last Year And As The Water Temperatures Rise In The Summer It Will Once Again Be Going In, Experience Has Showed Us That Just After Winter And Into Spring Fruity Or Creamy Baits Have Worked Well, So The Coconut Cream Was Produced And Will Be Applied Through Out The Spring To Hopefully Bag One Or Two Carp In The Early Sessions Of This Years Campaign

POP UP'S

White Pop Up Tippers In 12mm Was With Out Doubt A Real Winner Last Year For Both Me And ( Marc ) So To Complement The Coconut Cream We Have Come Up With A Fruit Flavoured Pop Up Tipper Called Fresh Orange, As The Name States An Orange Based Flavour With Added Ingredients To Produce A Really Fruity / Tangy Bait, We Have A Good Feeling About This Bait Time Will Tell Over The Weeks If We Are Correct?

Back To The Session And Shortly After Talking To The Departing Anglers Who Had Been Present All Day Had Left Who Just For The Record Had Failed To Catch Anything ( Marc's ) Right Hand Rod Belted Off And A Fish Was On, The Spirited Fight Which Took Us Both By Surprise Ended With A Nice Result For       ( Marc ) In The Way Of A Real Old Warrior Of A Common Which Went Just Over 20lb

A Great Start And In ( Marc's ) Words It's Great To Be Back !!!

FIRST CAPTURE OF ( 2014 )
