Finally I ( Matt ) Is Sitting Behind My Rods And Bankside Again, The Back End Of January And Most Of February Has Been Very Busy Work Wise But Today I'm Pleased To Say I've Got A Free Day So Myself And ( Marc ) Are Heading Back To Our Local Day Ticket Water In Search Of A Carp Or Two.

As Normal Were Both Up With The Lark And Arrived At The Fishery For First Light, The Weather Early Doors Is Poor Raining And A Very Cold Wind, The Weather Man Told Us The Rain Will Depart Late Morning And We May Even Get A Slight Rise In Air Temperature?

Not For The First Time Over Recent Sessions On This Venue Have We Found Ourselves Being The Only Anglers Present And Today Was No Different, We Both Jumped Straight Back Into The Swims We Had Fished In Our Previous Sessions, ( Marc ) Popped Over To The Back Lack Before Doing Any Thing Else To Prime A Few Spots On There As An Option To Use Later On During The Day.

By ( 7.45 AM ) We Had Both Got The Rods Sorted And We Were Fishing, Tactics Used Were Still The Same Snowman Presentations Complemented With Small PVA Bags Filled With Boilie Crumb And Chopped Boilie.

I ( Matt ) Have Recently Purchased A New Toy ( A Spomb ) Being Totally Honest I've Used Spods In The Past But They Do Not Have That Much Of A Role To Play In My Angling, But With The Ever Increasing Problem Such As Seagulls I Decided To Purchase This Product And I Must Say I'm So Pleased That I Did What A Great Invention, Quick, Efficent, And Easy To Use , They Tried Their Best Today To Grab A Free Meal But Failed, So On My Left Hand Rod Which Is Fished In The Central Area Of The Lake I Applied A Few Spomb Fulls Of Chopped Boilie Over That Rod.

Watching The Water For Signs, Shows, Head Poking, Rolling In The Early Stages Of The Session Neither Me Or ( Marc ) Saw Anything, Just After ( 9.00 AM ) My ( Matt's ) Left Hand Bobbin Pulled Up Tight, This Got Me Leaping From My Chair As I Sat Under My Brolly Sheltering From The Relentless Rain, I Re Adjusted The Bobbin And Retreated Back To My Chair When Once Again The Bobbin Pulled Up Tight Again, This Time I Hit The Rod And The Tip Bent Over Fish On!

A Fair Bit Of Resistance Was Felt And The Fish Did Not Put Up Much Of A Scrap Plodding And Sluggish, Past Experiences This Normally Results In A Resonable Sized Fish And That It Was When Shortly After     ( Marc ) Slipped The Net Under A Lovely Looking Common.

We Popped It In The Retainer Sling And Weighed It, After Deducting The Weight Of The Sling We Settled On A Weight Of ( 15lb 14oz ) GREAT RESULT!!!

                      FIRST CAPTURE OF ( 2014 )

What A Great Start My Second Session Into The New Year And A Great Capture To Kick Things Off

I Went On To Bag A Small Mirror Minutes After Then The Action Dried Up For Quite A Long Period Of Time, For The Purpose Of This Blog The Capture / Pic Above Fell To The Rod Fished Over Chopped Boilie, The Right Hand Rod Fished With Just A Small Bag Had Not Done A Bite Yet.

By Early Afternoon Around ( 1.30 PM ) We Had Two More Anglers Arrive, They Were Targeting The Many Roach The Complex Is Home To And They Headed For The Back Lake, Not Forgetting ( Marc ) He's Been In On The Action Also Banking Two Small Carp And By Now He Was Getting Itchy Feet And By ( 2.00 PM ) He Had Made His Way Over To The Back Lake To Give One Of His Pre Baited Spots Ago.

The Afternoon Went Past Un Eventful And By ( 5.00 PM ) ( Marc ) Had Returned To Fish The Remainder Of The Session On The Large Lake, He'd Had Plenty Of Joy On The Back Lake Bagging Five Carp Conditions He Said Were Totally Different Over Their, A Lot Warmer No Wind And He Even Spotted The Carp Fizzing Over His Spots.

As Dusk Was Approaching Around ( 5.40 PM ) The Lake Had Well And Truely Woken Up Again, And We Both Spotted Numerous Shows Very Close Into Were We Were Fishing, It Was Only A Matter Of Time We Thought Before One Of Us Got Back Into Some Action.

In Fact We Both Did ( Marc ) Was Lucky Enough To Get A Double Take And Right At The Death ( Matt ) Bagged Himself This Lovely Chunky Little Common To Round Off What Had Been A Great Days Angling

A NICE WAY TO END THE SESSION
