I'm On Holiday This Week And The Original Plan Was A Few Days In Oxford In Search Of A Late Autumn Stunner But With One Thing Or Another The Plans Were To Be Put On Hold For Another Day So The Decision Was Made To Get Out On The Bank For A Day Session With My Old Mucker
( Nick Rudge )

We Arrived At Our Chosen Venue Just After 6.30 AM And Were Greeted By Three Other Anglers One Had Been There For Two Days, After A Conversation Or Two It Was Clear That The Lake Was Fishing Hard This Week Some Carp Had Been Caught But Not Many

We Were Both Angling By 7.30 AM And Supping The First Coffee Of The Day Shortly After The Conditions Early Doors Looked Perfect Overcast Light Drizzle And For The Last Day In October Very Mild Indeed, We Had Both Miss Judged The Temperature And Had Both Put At Least Three Layers Of Clothing On Sweating Was An Understatement.

I ( Matt ) Was Using The Normal Bait And Tactics As I Have Been Doing All Year But ( Nick ) On The Other Hand Was Field Testing His Latest Bait Creation Which He Has Designed For His Late Autumn / Winter Fishing This Bait Has No Name Yet And Smells Gorgeous A Very Creamy Back Note And One I'm Sure Will Be A Great Success

The Session Began Very Slowly We Spotted The Odd Carp Roll But Being Honest Their Was Not A Lot To Get Excited About

Breakfast ( Bacon Sarnies ) Was The Only Bite We Had Up Until Just After 12.00 PM When ( Nick ) Was Just About To Reel In His Middle Rod To Re Bait And Re Spot.

It Melted Off And He Slipped The Net Under This Cracking Little Common We Never Weighed It

Somewhere Between 14 / 15lb ?

CRACKING LITTLE COMMON

That Was ( Nicks ) First Capture Since September When We Were Both In France Not The Same Stamp Of Fish But What Was Turning Out To Be A Very Difficult Day A Very Welcome Capture

I Won't Bore You With What Happened Over The Next Three Hours Because Simply Nothing Did Happen But When The Clock Chimed 4.00 PM The Session Sprung Into Action

Between Us We Went On To Bag Four More Carp With The Light Fading Fast I ( Matt ) Managed To Bank My Second Of The Session And What Was To Be The Biggest Capture

Again I Never Weighed It I Was Simply Delighted To Have Had Some Action!
