Tuesday April 6th and the long wait to wet a line on a brand new Club water was finally over
I actually joined the Club that controls my new venue back in November 2020
but shortly after joining the UK was as everybody reading this update knows is still in the thick of a global pandemic and the nation went into a three month lockdown
Happy new Club lake day.....
My first two sessions took place on as previously mentioned the 6th April and the 7th April and got off to a slow start
the weather was truly awful, I experienced sub zero temperatures, rain, hale and even snow flurry's
the only results I had to show for my efforts on both sessions were bream
April 13th and I was back again, and this time the weather had considerably improved
the weather had improved so much that IMO had put the carp in a stage of confusion?
by midday I spotted numerous carp just beneath the surface
and they were also acting very lethargic
I wasn't sure regards the rules on surface fishing?
and I didn't have any surface tackle at my disposal anyway
but what I did have was some zig bits
I constructed a zig and fished it just under the surface without any success
around 3.00pm I began to experience some liners, and by 4.00pm I could clearly see that the resident carp were moving frequently up and down the margin
I primed a lovely looking spot in the margin to my right, and by 4.30pm I had a rig in position
by 5.15pm it was away, and my first carp from this pretty little venue was in the net
Off the mark.....
Not massive by any means, but I was delighted non the less to get off the mark
I've been introducing my bait all over this small lake on average twice a week
and the signs are clear that it's residents are starting to enjoy it
but more about that next month
as always thanks for reading and tight lines
