The UK Has Yet Again Been Battered With Monsoon Like Conditions Strong Winds And Driving Rain
It's Christmas Eve ( 2013 ) And Me ( Matt ) And Good Friend ( Marc ) Did Not Think We'd Be Wetting A Line This Side Of Christmas Prior To Conditions I Have Previously Mentioned, But What A Contrast 24 Hrs Can Make

On The Eve Of Any Session I'm Like A Kid At Christmas And It's Very Rare That I ( Matt ) Sleep Straight Through Until The Alarm Clock Goes Off The Excitement Of Going Angling Normally Plays A Part In That But On This Session Another Reason For My Restless Nights Sleep Was Due To Keeping Updated With What Mother Nature Was Doing Outside? And From When I Laid My Head On My Pillow Up Until Around 3.00 AM Things Did Not Look Good At All! But By 5.30AM The Wind Had Considerably Eased Which You Can Imagine I Was Pleased About, I Rose At 6.00 AM And By 7.00 AM Me And ( Marc ) Were Both On Route To A Local Day Ticket Venue In Search Of A Carp Or Two

ARRIVAL

The Venue Is Only A Short Journey From Our Homes And By 7.20 AM We'd Pulled Into The Venue And Was Greeted By The Lake Owner, He Told Us That Things Had Been Very Quiet In The Way Of Angling Pressure Also We Were The Only Anglers Present So Far We Paid Our Fee For Our Days Angling And Made Our Way Down The Track To The Lake

The Venue Has Two Lakes On The Complex, A Small Lake And A Big Lake The ( Small Lake ) Has A Low Stock But Contains The Biggest Fish On The Complex, The ( Big Lake ) Holds A Very Good Stock Of Fish But Most Of The Carp In This Lake Are A Lot Smaller In Size There Is The Odd Mid Double And Low Twenty With Strains Such As Mirror, Common And Ghost Carp

We Had A Quick Chat Between Ourselves And The Decision Was Made To Fish The ( Big Lake ) And Hopefully Increase Our Chances Of A Few Bites

RODS OUT

Their Is A Two Rod Limit On This Venue

Our Plan Of Attack Was Simple, We Both Began The Session Using The Ever Reliable Snowman Presention On Both Rods And Made Up A Third Rod With A Zig Which We Would Inter Change With One Of The Other Rods During The Day

The Snowman Rigs Were Also Complemented With Small Bags Of Chopped Boilie

I ( Matt ) Was Using ( CM2 ) And ( Banofond ) Bottom Baits And Pop Ups ( Marc ) Was Using ( CM2 ) And ( Fizz ) Bottom Baits And Pop Up's

My Zig Presentation Was As Simple As It Get's

The Depth Of Water In Front Of Our Swims Was 6 Ft I'm Using A Korda Flat Pear Inline Lead With A Two Foot Hook Length A Size 8 Korda Mixer Hook And As The Still Above Shows A Purple ( Banofond ) 12mm Pop Up Tipped Off With A Fluro Maggot, This Adds More Colour To My Hook Bait And The Maggot Makes A Great Hair Stop

QUICK ACTION

Whilst Setting Up We Saw A Hell Of A Lot Of Carp Show So This Made Us Think That The Carp Were Still Spread Out All Over The Lake And Had Not Shoaled Up Yet

And We Did Not Have To Wait Long For Some Action ( Marc ) Was Away First Bagging A Very Small Common Of Around 2 Pound

Action Was Quite Steady Throught Out The Day We Even Managed A Double Hook Up And Grabbed A Nice Still For Keeps Sake Which Was Nice

Most Of Our Captures On The Day Were Between 3 / 5lb The Still Below Was ( Matt's ) Biggest Of The Session
Picture
( Marc ) Deserved All The Praise On This Session Though As I Mentioned Earlier In This Blog There Are A Few Mid Doubles In The ( Big Lake ) But Not Many And ( Marc ) Managed To Bag One Of Them

This Capture Fell To A Zig Fished Around 2 Ft In Depth Presenting A White ( CM2 ) Pop Up Tipped With A Red Plastic Maggot

On The Scales It Went Just A Shade Under 19lb GOOD ANGLING!!!

Overall It Was A Great Days Angling Were Hoping To Do It All Again Before The New Year?

All That's Left To Say Is Enjoy What's Left Of The Christmas Period And A Very Happy New Year To You All

TIGHT LINES AND HAPPY ANGLING
