How did the session progress? Sit back and enjoy the full lowdown

THE GRAND  UNION  CANAL

Picture

We arrived at a stretch of the Grand Union Canal which Luke's friend Paul knew held some Carp, There were Three of us angling today so we spread out along the towpath hoping to Intercept One or Two Carp

After a couple of hours to no avail we upped sticks and moved further down the Canal and Luke noticed some bubbles over the far side so we set up and flicked out Two rods each

RODS OUT

Thirty minutes later after re spotting both rods the clutch on Luke's left hand rod was singing a merry tune, After a short spirited battle good friend Paul netted the culprit  which was a chunky Mirror

Paul recognized the Carp straight away telling Luke that he had caught It last year! Pictures done Luke slipped her back to her watery home, That was Luke's first ever Canal Carp capture and he was delighted as you can Imagine

FIRST EVER  CANAL  CAPTURE

Weighing In at Just under Eighteen pounds Luke's day was complete and If anything else turned up?  That would be a bonus

The rig Luke used to good success Is a very simple presentation which he will explain In more detail below

A  simple braided pop up rig with a Pink Fluro boilie Luke likes the Hi Viz aspect at this time of the year complemented with a plastic maggot to add buoyancy and It acts also as a boilie stop.

THE RIG

As added attraction a stick mix was attached to the rig, Perfect for this time of the year a mouthful and makes a nice little trap we are fishing for a bite here as appose to filling It In like a lot do In the summer

No more action followed during the duration of the session so we packed up and drove to another section of the Canal and visited  more spots Paul knew that held Carp

But our efforts did not bring anymore success

So to concluded Luke's first Canal session  here Is a few words to sum up the day

'' My first time Canal Carping I experienced plenty of boat traffic, Spoke to a lot of friendly walkers and to catch on my first session In quite shallow water I must add was mind blowing ''

Great winter sport If you have a Canal near you? Get out their and give It a go!

READY FOR HOME
