An early start saw me up at ( 4.00 am )  The rod was already set up by the door waiting for me so after a quick coffee and visit to the bathroom to grab a quick wash, I picked up the carryall and rod and headed out the door and down the road Into the fields where I cut across to  a small lake which Is a short Fifteen minute walk from my house.

On a arrival I found that I had the  whole lake to myself happy days,  I made my way to a swim which I'd seen Carp In the previous day during a walk around, A simple short braided rig using a ( 10 mm ) Orange Pop up was flicked Just feet from the bank and a scattering of ground bait with added Tuna was scattered around It

I didn't even have time to set the net up as a single bleep turned Into a hooked carp!

I finally managed to set up my net which was a bit tricky and I netted the first Carp of the session which was a Mirror

Half an hour on from my first capture and the action went quiet so I decided to up sticks and move down the other end of the lake, I saw a couple crash out close to the bank rod back out with a  bit more bait

Twenty minutes In the new swim and I was Into Carp number Two of the session another Mirror after a spirited battle It hit the net a real pearler was this one they don't have to be big to be beautiful!

The final move of the day saw me move back down the bottom end yet again and I placed my rig a bit tighter to the bushes this time

Just as I was about to up sticks and check the swim next door the Neville screamed off again but this time It made sanctuary In the bush and sadly I lost It I gave It another hour without any more action so  I packed up and headed for home happy with my mornings work

A short Five hour session managing to land Three and lose one all coming on small orange pop ups on a simple knot less knot braided rig size 6 raptor hook and a small 2oz Inline lead on a short length of  lead core
