'' JULIAN CUNDIFF '' MY TIME ON CATCH 22

Question  1.

 ( Matthew Fleet )

So then Jules how did you get to hear about Catch 22?

( Julian Cundiff )

At the time I was writing my regular column for Angling Times and trying to catch Carp In the Winter In Yorkshire

This was problematical I'd been given a tip off that Catch 22 In Norfolk was a good Winter water?, Brian Skoyles had already been and done well so we both arranged a trip their In December for the original Angling Times Carp crew

Question 2.

( Matthew Fleet )

Catch 22 Is In Norfolk did the travelling time play a part In how long you stayed to angle?

( Julian Cundiff )

The journey time from my door to the venue was 100 miles plus, I'd get up at 3.00 am on a Friday and stay until at least the afternoon on the Saturday, That way I'd get roughly 24 hours angling time In? I'd do this at least Three times a month

( Matthew Fleet )

The Carpworld article In ( 2014 ) on Catch 22 says the venue consists of Carp Imported from Holland?

According to the Catch 22 web site the main Carp lake contains a good head of 30lb + Carp?, Was the stock level One of the reason for targeting this venue?

( Julian Cundiff )

The reason I went was the good stock level full stop!

The best capture I had was 19lb 2oz Mirror, Over Two Winters I had a couple of hundred Carp, Most of them were between 11 / 14lb
 80% plus were Commons

Question 5.

( Matthew Fleet )

What bait and tactics did you use during your time on Catch 22?

( Julian Cundiff )

I began on my standard Hi - Viz pop up approach for One trip, But I soon found out the locals know best

A lead coated In paste made from scalded pellets complemented with a trimmed fishmeal boilie or varnished Trout pellet on 4 - 8 Inches of stiff mono did the trick

A big trick I used was by using smaller balls of pellet paste, I could reach 100 yards were the locals were using larger balls and could only reach
60 yards, Short hair, Push the hook bait Into the paste and launch It to the horizon

A 288 mile round trip that day, 22 Carp caught that day In maybe just 6 / 7 hours angling? Happy days!
