It's another early start and a long old journey from my home in the Midlands to the five lakes complex in Essex for the CarpIn'On Show

my last visit was back in 2014 so my return visit is long overdue, i've arranged to catch up with my good friend Julian Cundiff again

it's always nice talking with Jules whilst filming more content for his fan page which is over on facebook and no doubt putting the world to rights

their are stands dotted around the show from many different aspects of carp angling, the one i often visit first and normally spend sometime on is the Nash stand, a few of my friends are quite often present on it and once again it's nice to catch up

this years stand looked impressive as ever

one of the highlights for me is towards the end of the day on day two of the show which is the Sunday and the mainstage presents the Carp Talk awards, i filmed a live facebook live broadcast of this years awards and on my return home re edited it and uploaded it to my youtube channel

you can watch the short video below

congratulations to both Max Cottis and Darrell Peck

that's about it for another year and i'm looking forward to doing it all again in 2018

It's that time of the year again when i Matt make the long journey from the Midlands to Essex and the five lakes complex for the CarpIn'On Show

the highlight this year was on the Saturday when river monsters star Jeremy Wade entered the stage to do an hour long talk on his hit TV series

Jeremy discussed In depth about his quest for monsters and an added bonus was Jeremy showing out take footage he had obtained whilst filming

If you purchase your ticket online before hand? a complementary gift is available on entry, this year the team at solar tackle had put together a lovely gift, a selection of products from their seafood takeaway range, which included bottom baits, pop up's, pellets and booster liquid excellent value!
Picture
the majority of my time spent in the early stages of the day Sunday was spent on the rig / bait clinic stand catching up with my good friend Julian Cundiff, Jules along with Mike Kavanagh and Joe Turnbull do an excellent job over the weekend answering questions, tying rigs and rolling bait
Picture
the day got even better and thanks to Julian i got to meet a true iconic and carp fishing legend

'' Sir Pete Springate ''

i Matt sat and listened to a conversation between two greats, who chatted about carp and carp fishing, a truely special moment!

thankyou Jules
Picture
i could not leave without having a good chin wag with Jules on how 2014 had began for him?

angling, bait, approach, rock music
Picture
i Matt had an indepth walk around the show looking at a number of products within the trade, such as bait, hardware and publications, one product that stood out for me was from solar tackle

it's common knowledge now that solar over the past twelve months have invested heavily on the bait side of things, they are without doubt a company going places in the bait game
Picture
talk time the one i wanted to see and i was looking forward to the most was Nutrabaits boss Bill Cottam's, Bills talk was based around a feature which he writes monthly in the well known magazine carp world called talking allegedly, Bill talked about big waters over seas, targeting big carp and baiting patterns, was it worth the wait? you bet it was!
Picture
and finally................

i witnessed some more big names getting inducted into the Carp Talk hall of fame

the names listed below richly deserved there awards and have all offered so much to carp fishing in their own right!

Well it’s that time of the year again when all the trade shows and exhibitions take place in the world of carp fishing

like the previous two years my good friend Nick Rudge and myself are making the early start and heading for Essex and the five lakes complex for CarpIn’On 2013

if you follow me on twitter? @carpmarathon you would of read my tweets regards this exhibition in my opinion this is the best exhibition on the circuit for variety and retail

and with Rob Hughes comparing the event on the main stage this event is organised extremely well and very professional from when it begins on the Saturday morning and ends on the Sunday afternoon

Nick and myself hit the road at 5.00am and arrived at five lakes around 9.15am after passing through the main entrance we had our pre booked tickets scanned our hand stamped and went off to the Carp Talk stand to receive our free gift which included a sample pack of Terry Hearns new bait the Crave and a spool of Berkley line

                                                                     FREE GIFT

Picture
being honest it did not take us that long to browse the stands offering tackle and bait but what did take time was the conversations we both had with certain people in the trade

Nick Burrage From Retro Baits

Lee Collings from Fosters of Birmingham

and our good friend Julian Cundiff who was working on the rig clinic stand

                                                              RIG CLINIC STAND

Picture
Jules has played a massive part in my angling for many years now and i like many others have followed his angling exploits and writing in books and magazines for just as long

if it is not common knowledge by now? i am lucky enough to be the admin for Julian's fan page on facebook and the run up to this years exhibition i got in touch with Julian to discuss doing some more work and content for the page whilst i was attending the show as always Jules kindly accepted

with Jules working on the rig clinic stand the subject could only be of one '' rigs ''

the rig in question that we talked about indepth is a rig i have never used but one i have read about mainly through Julian's writing.

it’s a rig Julian has used for sometime now a rig he has a lot of confidence in and a rig that has caught him a number of carp from various waters across the UK

that rig is the multi - rig

                                                                THE MULTI - RIG

Picture
less of me waffling on, sit back and enjoy Julian's insight on the multi - rig how he ties it and it’s advantages

                                                            LIVE AT CARPIN' ON

i think you’d have to agree when it comes to demonstrating and addressing information Julian is excellent

the final rig was given to me as a gift which i thought was nice and i was very thankful

by the time we’d done the filming and had spoken more to Jules, Nick and myself turned our attention to the main stage as it was talk time with top carp angler Terry Hearn

if you have never attended one of Terry's talks?  i can highly recommend you do so,  Terry always puts together an interesting and very indepth presentation and today was to be no different talking about the Blue Pool, Burghfield and the capture of one of the country's most sort after carp the Burghfield common

if you have read any of my previous blogs? you’ll know any carp that swims is welcomed, but commons to me are that little bit special so you can imagine i was loving every minute of this!

                                                     STILLS FROM TERRY'S TALK

                                                              CARPIN' ON ( 2012 )

Sunday ( 4. 3. 12 ) and it was time for my annual visit to Essex and the five lakes complex for the CarpIn'On Show.

if you have never been? i recommend it it's well worth the visit it’s a six hour round trip for me that’s how highly i rate it all the big leading carp tackle manufactures under one roof Nash, Fox, Century to name a few

also a chance to meet with some big names in the industry like my angling hero Julian Cundiff he was on the rig clinic stand all weekend a lovely bloke and it’s always nice to catch up

                                                            MYSELF AND JULES

Picture
apart from the many stands to visit there are many talks and slide shows taking place through out the weekend

for me this is an integral part of the weekend names such as Cundiff, Peck, Lane, Fairbrass and Hearn took to the stage

also a good photo opportunity here are some stills i took through out the day
